PTSD

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is an anxiety disorder that can develop after someone has experienced exposure to a frightening event or situation in which they feared or experienced significant harm or were otherwise threatened.  This may include events such as natural or man-made disasters, accidents, violent assaults, combat or other events that create a heightened sense of fear or threats to one’s well being.

There are many symptoms that may be associated with PTSD, ranging from flashbacks and nightmares to being easily startled, feelings of guilt or depression, and trouble concentrating or falling asleep.

Anxiety disorders like PTSD can be treated through a variety of therapies ranging from interaction with people who have shared similar experiences to prescription medications.
